OSHA n. "Occupational Safety and Health Administration." The federal agency that regulates workplace health and safety standards.

Out-of-Date adj. See EXPIRED.

NOTE: Out of Date ITEMS go to a specially-marked SHELF on the DAMAGED ITEMS RACK in RECEIVING. If they don't fit, any such CASES should be marked O.O.D. and STACKED on the floor nearby.
Out-of-Stock adj. A temporary condition where the SHELF is empty and there's no more of that particular ITEM in the BACK ROOM: "Sorry -- we're out of stock." See RAIN CHECK.
NOTE: For any SALE ITEMS that are Out-of-Stock, CUSTOMERS should be encouraged to get a RAIN CHECK from the CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK at the front of the STORE. The GROCERY MANAGER may know more about why an ITEM is Out-Of-Stock, as well as if and when more might come in. Ask.

Look for Temporarily Out of Stock tags on a clipboard beside the GROCERY MANAGER'S desk. To reduce the number of times you may have to go over the same information with different CUSTOMERS, fill out a Temporarily O.O.S. Tag for the SHELF and put it in the HOLE.
Overstock n. See BACK-STOCK.
